Introduction

I'm a fan of Liberation Sans fonts and Liberation Sans Mono for terminals but came across Dina font which is a nice bitmap font and now use it almost exclusively for everything.

Installation

Download and extract the font from the Arch Linux Community Repository.

cd /tmp
wget https://www.archlinux.org/packages/community/any/dina-font/download/

Move it to /usr/share/fonts/X11/misc/ and update the font cache.

sudo mv /tmp/usr/share/fonts/local/*.pcf /usr/share/fonts/X11/misc/
sudo fc-cache -fvs

Verify fonts.dir contains the manually installed font

grep dina /usr/share/fonts/X11/misc/fonts.dir

Use xfontsel to obtain the fomat you need for your desired application/Window manager etc or the above output from grep.
